The biggest risk is not to innovate!

The biggest risk associated with innovation is not to innovate. If the company does not have innovations, it allows competition to shape the future. New ideas will shape the market that will no longer be interested in old products.   Because of this, we can say that sometimes the challenges of innovation are big, but the risk of non-innovating is much higher.   In other words: Standing on the same place is like going backwards!   So, companies should look to the future – to new trends and new opportunities.   How to scan that? Just catch-up with latest news on your domain … Continue reading The biggest risk is not to innovate!

there is no space for ideas in hostile environment

Few weeks ago, I got one insight from a friend who works in factory. He had an idea how to improve the production process. He spoken with his supervisor and they made this improvement which produces less waste and production is faster. I must say that, I spoke with him few months ago and encouraged him to make this, as it will be done in my company with no problem, but we have innovation culture… What happened is that another supervisor wasn’t been happy with that, and idea was rejected, idea-creator (my friend) got also some bad words like “Don’t … Continue reading there is no space for ideas in hostile environment

new shopping mall and few old ladies

New shopping Mall is opened. It’s the biggest in the range of 150 km, it has more shops then any other, and it’s looking fine. I saw the opening on TV few minutes ago, among the crowd, there were few old ladies with shopping carts (which is not needed, only maybe for one supermarket) which are waiting 9:00 and Mall to be opened for the first time, thew looked like Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton when they are waiting red lights to switch off at the start of F1 race. I don’t know what they were thinking, but they have … Continue reading new shopping mall and few old ladies

technology transfer

I was on the seminar about technology transfer in my town and sadly I couldn’t say after it, I’m convinced in which part of the time period are we now. Are we at the zero-point, or have we made a step further? So, we have three parts of the puzzle: University, Business Sector and Government. University is not open, doesn’t do any R&D (or maybe more polite: doesn’t do much R&D), Business Sector is having it’s own problems and if some companies are really successful – they don’t want to mess around with Faculties which cannot teach them anything new. … Continue reading technology transfer

course on creativity and innovation

I’m just back from first course on Innovations and Creativity. It was a day and half long course on creative thinking and innovation. I got great feedback from participants and I’m sure that in future I will go on with this course. As I expected attendees are the most interested in the creativity examples such as some thinking techniques and pointing out the examples, like coincidental inventions. But, also the chapter “Open Innovations” was very interesting for them as they didn’t know nothing about it. Open Innovation Web-Sites like Innocentive was the complete novelty. New website created (Croatian) which supports … Continue reading course on creativity and innovation

innovation culture barriers

Have you heard your friend, father or uncle how he make fun of his boses or to management in his factory because they are doing something „stupid“, and when you ask him „why won’t you propose a solution?“, the answer is: „they wouldn’t listen to me, they dont care for my thoughts“ or „let them do whatever they want!“. This barrier between employee and the firm, or call it ‘learned helplessness’ is the spirit when the employee don’t need to think and it’s the example which kind of culture should be completely changed. This kind of examples can be heard … Continue reading innovation culture barriers
